Big apologies for lack of posts - been scouting for a 'crock o' gold' and this is possibly the best yet.

Frankie J got in touch with a collection of tunes he found at various thrift stores as he travelled cross country to the 2006 Big Logs Festival. More like HOT logs after these goods were pushed into the cassette machine. Frankie J got cracking and is proud of this EXCLUSIVE mix - the likes of which shan't be heard again.

First up - Australia's answer to Richie Cunningham and the Stale Froot Machine - the Silver Studs. Sadly the follow up single 'Ripe and Dandy' didn't make it for them, so it was back to the Dry Cleaning Industry. We're left with 'Dance With A Dolly', a stain these boys could never EVER remove.

Next - ride high with Bronson - one of Australia's unknown Country KINGS and a truckie to boot. Featuring from Volume 6 of his cassettes,'Trucks Trucks and More Trucks - Bronson Drives Home Some Trucking Songs'- how this was left on the shelf of the Longreach Community Health Centre for so long will amaze you! 'Cholestreeol [sic] Kings' makes a bold honest statement that BIG BRONSON is keen to own. Bronson plays all instruments, vocals; composes the tunes and records them in the BRONSON TRAVELLING MOBILE UNIT - presumably a Kenworth.

From the western twang to the Opera Halls of Italia - the Great Caruso will have you FLOORED to the strains of 'My Beautiful Cat' - a heartfelt tune dedicated to his precious moggy. The production skills of Davino Bernardio are evident in the forgotten technique of 'live cassette edit' - a skill presumed to have died out in 1974. Listen to the very end for a coda that will bring a tear to your eye.

Add delicate doses of Status Quo, Reynols and old Sigsworth Hero, Robin Jolley - this is the PARTY STARTER you've been CRAVING.

PK Freshk-Ness On The Decks

The momentum for FRESH mixes is just at boiling point. Ol' Dub Jraan from the Jraanmin Krew has been hanging around my garage like a bad smell for weeks - once he got a hint of the blog he was off up the street to Burmenk Audio Suite to visit his idol P.K Freshness.

Ol' Dub also plays trombone in the Jandy Band who played along with P.K. as he accidentally cut new grooves in his vinyl with his 'lathe-cut' technique. Some nice work - re-slicing a whole new feel to Doug Parkinson's theme to the ill-feted TV Show 'Arcade' from the 80s - which ironically had PK as an extra, sharpening the knives in Vickey's Sandwich Shoppe.

I include a rare snap of the Jandy Band - known to 'take the pipe' to anyone weilding a camera - PK's absence of his left eye is a testament to that.

When Sigsworth asked me to add a shift I was all thumbs and trousers - excitedly I just had to share with you my Budgie Boolian's mix. What? - you say? True. I cut up paper with track names I've been listening to from my download pile and as he 'chooses' each track - then I mix em! Some may think this odd - but I think he knows some hot tunes and how they flow together! See what you think....this is equal parts hot Yugo-Prog circa 75 meets click-crunk via NZ pop tones.
